Bogotá, Colombia – Looking up Calle 11 in the historical La Candelaria district, in the South American capital city of Bogota. The image was shot on 20th of July which is National Day in Colombia; the streets are therefore not as busy as they can normally be. It is in this area that the Spanish Conquistador, Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada founded the city in 1538. The area is known for its historical colonial architecture; there are buildings in La Candelaria that go back a few humdred years. Many of the walls in the area are painted in the vibrant colours of Latin America. The elevation at street level is around 8500 feet above mean sea level. The sky is overcast: it will probably rain shortly. Some vehicular traffic can be seen on the street. In the far background are the Andes Mountains. Photo shot on a cloudy Afternoon; horizontal format. Copy space.
