Colombia: 16th Century Town of Villa de Leyva. Main Plaza

Villa de Leyva, Colombia – The North Western Side of of the main plaza or square in Villa de Leyva; it is Sunday morning and literally there hardly anyone on the street and virtually no traffic on the Carrera. Founded in 1572, and located at just over 7000 feet above sea level on the Andes Mountains, the whole town was declared a National Monument in 1954, to protect it’s colonial architecture and heritage.
