Dubai, United Arab Emirates – When the multi-million dollar Dubai Water Canal was created to link the rear end of the Creek to the sea, it became necessary for bridges to be built on Shk Zayed Road to go over the Water Canal. Image shows the modern bridges that were constructed. A few decades ago there was only a desert road here, with sand on either side of the road. The bridge closer to the lens carries the elevated railway tracks for Dubai Metro. The one behind it carries all 8 lanes of road traffic between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
