Colombia - The Church on the Main Square in the Andean Town of Zipaquirá in the Afternoon Sunlight

Zipaquirá, Colombia – Looking from one corner of the main square of the Colombian city of Zipaquira toward the corner that houses the Mayor’s Office. The town is located on the Eastern Range of the Andes Mountains, at an elevation of 8,690 feet above mean sea level. The present day city was established in the year 1600 AD. The Roman Catholic Church on the square, to the left of the image, dominates the square. A Colombian lady unknown to the photographer, who was about to cross the street, looks towards the camera to prevent her own intrusion. Some Christmas decoration are still visible on the square.
