Rome – City for all Seasons

Rome is one of my most favourite cities in the world.  I have probably been to the City on over 40 occasions; unfortunately, I had a digital camera with me only on my last visit to the Eternal City. Someone described Italy as a “Celebration of Life”.  The capital city of the Country is no exception.

What I like most about the City is how the old and the new exist side by side. The average Roman drives nonchalantly past a landmark that is 2000 years old.  It is part of his everyday life.  He is no longer in awe of his heritage. For the visitor, however, every which way you turn in central Rome, there is a site that one had only read about. It is stuff history is made up of; returning triumphant Roman Legions, triumphal arches, amphitheatres of gore, edifices of the Renaissance masters.  Whatever the time or season, the changing shades of light change very little in the City. Rome is always the Eternal City. Here are some photos of both Rome and a few other places in Italy, I would like to share with you. Click here if you wish to see or buy more of my photos of Italy.
