Colombia - people, historic Zipaquira town square and church

Zipaquira, Colombia – The main plaza or square in the Andean town of Zipaquira in the Colombian department of Cundinamarca in South America. Photo shows the church on the square; to the right the building with the dome and the flags is the Mayor’s office. A hearse is parked in front of the church; a funeral mass is going on inside the church. The square is different from most colonial squares in that it does not have the usual decorative garden but is paved with bricks completely. Many local Colombian people can be seen on the square; there are also a few vendors. The clock on the tower is not working and shows the wrong time. Photo shot in the afternoon sunlight against an overcast sky. It is about to rain. Horizontal format; copy space. © Mano Chandra Dhas
