The ruins of what was once the splendour of the Roman empire in the capital city of Rome in Italy. In the background is the Arch of Titus, a 1st Century honorific arch located on the ancient Via Sacra. It was constructed in 82 AD by the Emperor Domitian, shortly after the death of his older brother Titus, to commemorate Titus’ victories including the Seige of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Several old Umbrella Pines can also be seen. In the foreground are some olive trees. Many people are seen moving between the Colosseum and the Arch which will lead on to the ancient Roman Forum. pPhoto shot in the afternoon sunlight; horizontal format.
