Villa de Leyva, Colombia – looking towards Carrera 10 and the Northern corner of the main plaza or square in Villa de Leyva; it is Sunday morning and very few people are on the streets or square. Founded in 1572 and located at just over 7000 feet above sea level on the Andes Mountains, the whole town was declared a National Monument in 1954 to protect it’s colonial architecture and heritage.
